2026 Permits
Thetford Residents wishing to use the Town’s Transfer Station, for trash or recycling, must purchase a permit, currently $25. Permits are available at Town Hall. You can also mail a check with your request for a permit to the Town Hall, PO Box 126 Thetford Center VT 05075, or drop it in the drop box at Town Hall.

Trash Ticket Sales: Trash service is provided by Quinttown Container Service. You may pay in cash or check at the Recycling Center each Saturday.

PAINT RECYCLING:
paintcare.com can give you locations near Thetford where you can recycle latex or oil paints, varnish., etc. The list includes Fogg's Hardware in Norwich and Oakes Lumber in Bradford. Call before going to confirm acceptance and amounts.
Latex paints are water soluble. Most cans with residue can be dried out before disposal. Do not bring to the HHW event. HHW event will accept oil and solvent base paints, varnishes, paint thinners and others. Please see the list at www.guvswmd.org.

Batteries
Battery Terminal Taping Recycling Reminder – Alkaline batteries (A, AA, AAA, B, C, D) do NOT need to have terminals taped. All batteries OVER 9 volts and all rechargeable, nickel cadmium, and lithium (hearing aid button and coin cell) batteries must be taped or put individually in a plastic bag. PLEASE USE CLEAR PACKING TAPE ONLY. This is for shipping/storage safety and efficient processing at the Call2Recycle facility. Call 674-4474 or email hgillett@swcrpc.org with questions. Please do not throw your batteries in the trash and please share this information with every Vermont resident you see. Thank you.
Other items
$.05 redeemables may be placed in the bins located at the recycling house or by the comingle bins. Glass redeemables may be put in the boxes provided.
Packing peanuts and bubble wrap can be put in the recycling house for re-use.
